Blimey

Great Britain has been forced to pull out of an Olympic baseball qualifier because it couldn't get the dough to send it's team to Taiwan. Upon being informed that the government isn't going to help out, the team's spokesman noted that it would have been tough for GB to make the games anyway:
"The tournament takes place during spring training for the American baseball teams and we have a few players trying to make it onto their teams, so they would have found it difficult to be released to play in Taiwan," he said.
Um, there are British players in major league camps? Really?
