Horsehide Carpaccio

This isn't a political blog, so when I link to a story about Dennis Kucinich introducing Articles of Impeachment against President Bush, please realize that I am not making a political statement of any kind. I'm linking it because of this:

The letter says the International Committee of the Red Cross conducted an independent investigation of interrogation practices at Guantanamo Bay and "documented several instances of acts of torture against detainees, including soaking a prisoner’s hand in alcohol and lighting it on fire, subjecting a prisoner to sexual abuse and forcing a prisoner to eat a baseball.”
I don't mean to make light of torture, abuse, or the systematic dismantling of liberty and the rule of law under Bush -- damn, and here I was trying to be apolitical! -- but frankly, I'm having a hard time picturing this.

Perhaps the baseball wasn't eaten whole. It seems completely impossible that a person could eat a whole baseball and survive. Of course, if it wasn't whole, then why a baseball?

Is it bad that the first thing that sprang to mind was trying to cut a baseball as it rolled around the plate?
